The fact that most men tend to enjoy the aroma of pine is an open secret. What does pine smell like? Crispy, sweet, and refreshingly invigorating, fresh pine scent evokes memories of the outdoors, Christmas, and walking through a forest full of pine trees—a small wonder that’s universally linked with masculinity.
The pine tree produces terpenes, natural organic compounds that help induce a sense of calm and relaxation while improving your mood.
I’ve always been captivated by the refreshing woody-spicy fragrance oil that emanates from pine needles, cones, and shoots, and it’s a note I adore in various colognes.
What are the Best Pine Colognes?
How I Tested and Selected The Best Pine Colognes
I delved into an exploration of fragrances with prominent pine notes to create my list of the top 7 pine-infused colognes.
I was on the lookout for that perfect pine note – whether it’s got that deep, earthy vibe, a hint of citrus, or maybe more of a resinous feel.
I discovered that some of the colognes I checked out, despite boasting pine in their notes, fell short of delivering that distinct earthy, piney aroma.
As a result, I only selected colognes that not only feature pine but also excel in capturing the essence of a rich, woody bouquet.
These top 7 choices blend the allure of pine with exceptional woody accords!
In-Depth Pine Cologne Reviews
Polo By Ralph Lauren For Men Eau de Toilette
Polo By Ralph Lauren For Men Eau de Toilette Review
Polo by Ralph Lauren boasts an intense pine scent that’s incredibly appealing.
This fragrance from the late ’70s boasts a myriad of notes. Basil and pine tree needles dominate the top, while leather, chamomile, and pepper shine in the middle. The base is rich with tobacco, oakmoss, musk, and more.
The prominent notes for me are basil, pine tree needles, leather, tobacco, oakmoss, and musk.
A fresh, green, and spicy opening characterizes this scent. Though the opening is somewhat dry thanks to the pine and leather, it progresses into an intense and smoky blend of tobacco and patchouli that’s pretty intriguing.
Polo for Men remains a timeless, masculine fragrance with a distinct piney character. Its green, musky, and woody profile exudes maturity and success. It’s versatile, and suitable for both casual and formal occasions, though I’d reserve it for fall and winter.

Aramis Devine
Aramis Devine Review
The cologne comprises fragrant aromatics, balsamic, and green notes that create a warm, sensual, and stimulating sensation.
It opens up with a whiff of citrus and aromatics, closely followed by a spicy and floral heart, finally ending with a deep amber, moss, and woody base.
Devin reveals floral and citrusy top notes with a touch of aldehyde. The heart unfolds with hints of pine, carnation, and a subtle warmth from cinnamon. However, it’s in the base notes where Devin truly shines, boasting a rich blend of leather, musk, and cedar.
Aramis Devine is not overwhelming. The fragrance lasts up to 3 hours on your skin and the sillage is quite powerful in the first hour. This subtle scent ultimately evolves into a lingering soft but evocative scent featuring sweet, green, and woodsy accords.
This fragrance, with its warming and depth of character, is ideal for autumn and winter, creating a mature and well-dressed aura. Despite being labeled as an eau de cologne, Devin surprises with decent longevity, lasting around three to four hours.
Top Notes: Aldehyde, Sweet orange, Lavender, Lemon, Artemisia, Citrus bergamia, Galbanum
Middle Notes: Pine, Carnation, Cinnamon, Meridian fennel, Jasmine
Base Notes: Amber, Musk, Leather, Patchouli, Oakmoss, Cedarwood, Labdanum

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme
Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Review
This timeless pine scent is super manly. And though it doesn’t last that long, with a lifespan of only 5 – 6 hours, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme smells fantastic. It’s not a heavy scent. Rather, it’s soft and airy, sitting lightly on your skin.
The opening is extremely woodsy and fresh. It’s also quite leathery, though, in a bright and soft way. Next comes a super resinous aroma blending in well with the leather note to create an elegant combination.
What’s unique about Bottega Veneta is that you can smell each component, yet they all harmonize incredibly well.
This wood-scented cologne is appropriate for casual wear in winter and fall. It’s a fresh and timeless scent you will want to have as a signature fragrance.
Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Siberian Pine, Juniper
Middle Notes: Canadian Fir Resins, Clary sage, Pimento
Base Notes: Leather, Indonesian patchouli, Labdanum
What we liked
- Elegant and charismatic
- Lovely light scent
- Very masculine
Caron Yatagan
Caron Yatagan Review
Released in 1978, this male cologne was formulated by Vincent Marcello. It invites you to join an adventure tracing Ottoman horses, I’d describe the scent as piney, earthy, and animalic.
This exotic and mysterious fragrance evokes memories of the orient and adventurous destinies. Warm, bold, and sensual, the cologne reminds one of a rare oriental wood used in Hindu homes as incense. It’s smoky, with traces of green and freshness; a pine-scented, country green aroma with an earthy base.
Caron Yatagan’s woodsy notes blended smoothly with hints of herbs make the cologne perfect for cold seasons such as fall and winter. This memorable cologne can quickly become a favorite that you reach out for often.
Despite its reputation, I find it lacks the powerhouse projection and longevity I anticipated. Having said that its still above moderate.
Top Notes: Pine, Basil, Galbanum, Mint, Watercress, Lavender
Middle Notes: Artemisia, Oak, Oakmoss, Patchouli
Base Notes: Castoreum, Incense, Musk, Woodsy notes
What we liked
- Extremely masculine scent
- Slight smokey aroma
- A classic cologne
Pino Silvestre
Pino Silvestre Review
The refreshing, clear notes in this fragrance make it quite seductive. Its sillage and longevity are moderate—it lasts about 5 hours on my skin—, but the scent is quite delightful, and the cologne is available at an affordable price.
Pino Silvestre opens with a blast of lavender and basil accompanied by a sharp citrusy essence and strong pine accords.
The heart transitions into a bath of pine trees, pine tar, pine needles, and cedar, delivering a crisp, clean, and masculine aroma. However, the sharp pine note may be polarizing for some, making it important to apply it lightly initially. Overall, I find the scent refreshing and love its distinct piney character.
As for where to wear Pinot Silvestre, I initially considered it a wintertime fragrance, perfect for Christmas. However, revisiting it in the summer, I found it surprisingly suitable for the season, making it versatile enough for various occasions.
Top Notes: Juniper Berries, Lavender, Basil, Citrus, bergamot
Middle Notes: Pine Tree Needles, Carnation, Geranium, Clary sage, Caraway
Base Notes: Amber, Cedar, Oakmoss, Tonka Bean, Musk
What we liked
- Wonderful, refreshing aroma
- Surprisingly Versatile
- A time-honored classic
Lacoste Red
Lacoste Red Review
acoste Red, released in 2004, falls into the woody, fruity, green, aromatic category. With notes of green apple, pine tree, patchouli, and vetiver, it has a clean and earthy scent. The bottle design is reminiscent of Ferragamo.
Playful, fresh, and energetic are the words I would use to describe this great-smelling fragrance.
It opens with a clean, fresh, and fruity aroma and dries down to a beautiful trail. The dry-down is piney and also features vetiver and patchouli base notes. The latter two give this cologne a powerful masculine vibe.
While Red by Lacoste is not a beast performer, it’s perfect for the gym, given the energy and dynamism it offers. You can also wear it after your shower to continue feeling sporty and fresh.
This fruity formulation lasts over 4 hours and sports a moderate sillage and longevity. It’s best worn by a man in his twenties. However, if you have a thing for fruity gourmand fragrances or pine tree colognes, then you’ll like Red by Lacoste. Give it a shot.
Top Notes: Green apple
Middle Notes: Pine tree
Base Notes: Patchouli, Vetiver
What we liked
- A lovely, fresh, and clean scent
- A powerfully male fragrance
- spicy and woody aroma
Final Thoughts
Colognes that smell like pine trees are well-liked. Pine fragrances are typically manly scents (some are unisex) and are most appropriate for fall and winter wear.
Woodsy pine scents are particularly great for the outdoors, and you can wear them when hiking, camping, or engaging in other outdoor activities.
If you have never worn a pine tree cologne but adore the smell of pine, pick the most appealing one from our list and give it a try. Better yet, wear it next time you head to the gym, office, or outdoor adventure and await the compliments. You won’t be disappointed.
