Creed Boutique dates back to 1760. The company is immensely proud of its rich history, having dressed royalty and aristocrats over the decades. With such a glorified past, it’s not a wonder that Creed perfumes appeal to individuals with a leaning for luxe products that tell a unique story.
And we all love a good story, don’t we? Stay tuned then, for in this Creed Silver Mountain Water review, we reveal the fascinating story behind this cologne and much more.
What’s the Story Behind Creed Silver Mountain?
Creed Boutique has been around for generations. Indeed, 7 generations have helped transform the fragrance house, which started as a tailoring house.
Olivier Creed is the man behind Aventus, the sensational male fragrance that single-handedly placed The House of Creed on the (fragrance) map. He is also the one credited with propelling the company to the esteemed brand it is today.
A champion skier, Olivier deeply enjoyed the exhilarating thrill of coursing through lofty peaks like the Swiss Alps, bracing the snow, bone-chilling wind, and sub-zero temperatures. His passion for the sport led him to create a fragrance that would evoke the shimmering streams of water he came across high up the snow-etched Alps.
And so, in 1995, Silver Mountain Water came to be. Also involved in the formulation of this bottled freshness was perfumer Pierre Bourdon.
Silver Mountain Water cologne soon became a bestseller, with the alpine composition earning the esteem of being one of Creed’s most abstract fragrances. The House of Creed is known for premium-quality fragrances, particularly because they use carefully selected, hand-picked ingredients, all sourced from nature. Unsurprisingly, a number of them are hot sellers, like Aventus. (To discover more amazing Creed Colognes, check out this post)
Our Verdict of Creed Silver Mountain Water
Creed is a prestigious brand, and its products look the part. They are classy with minimalist decor and come in exquisite packaging.
Silver mountain water is encased in a translucent white bottle with a silver lid. Unlike the standard glass flacons most perfumers employ, this one is made from porcelain. The perfume bottle comes packed in a white, textured box sporting the Creed logo in silver with a matching label on the front. Just like the bottle, its outlook is simple yet classy.
When you buy this cologne as a gift, you get the “luxe gifting experience” where the fragrance arrives in a signature gift box adorned with a Creed ribbon. This special treatment covers colognes sized between 30 and 100ml (1.01- 3.8 ounces)
The shiny cap evokes the image of an icy mountain, its snowy trickles forming a glistening silver stream.
As mentioned at the beginning of the review, this fabulous cologne artfully captures the freshness and purity of a lofty, snow-capped mountain.
It opens to reveal rich citrusy bergamot notes and mandarin orange. On their heels follow delicate milky-sweet blackcurrant accords and green tea, turning the heart of the fragrance into something smooth, green, and super chilly.
The top and middle notes rest on a base comprising musk, galbanum, sandalwood, and petitgrain. Upon drying down, Silver Mountain Water continues to emit a fresh vibe interlaced with light touches of musk.
So what does Creed Silver Mountain Water smell like?
Upon sniffing Silver Mountain Water, you are literally transported to the highest peaks of an icy mountain.
The citrus-heavy composition smells incredibly fresh, with the green tea accord taking prominence. This means you can smell the green tea from the get-go. Meanwhile, the smooth citrusy essence remains present.
This is one beautifully blended fragrance. The fresh, citrus-herbal-green elements manifest chilly coolness exceptionally well.
Some users report experiencing a metallic essence upon spraying on Silver Mountain Water. This metallic facet emanates from the blackcurrant-green tea duo. It’s not off-putting, though, and the overall effect is a more distinct formulation.
This exhilarating cologne performs admirably. You can expect up to 8 hours of sustained wear (9-10 hours if your skin loves the scent) with great projection. As for sillage, the fragrance leaves a lingering trail a couple of feet behind you.
This is an attention-grabber, especially in the initial 1-2 hours when the projection is powerful. Nonetheless, it’s super light; hence you have no fear of Silver Mountain turning into an offensive or irritating cologne.
Creed Boutique makes ultra-versatile scents, and Creed Silver Mountain Water is no exception. The fragrance is suitable for both men and women of all ages.
Silver Mountain Water by Creed performs best in warm weather, as this is when its light and smooth ultra-fresh vibe really kicks in. Consequently, this is more of a daytime fragrance – informal activities, a day at work, or the gym.
Anyone looking for a fragrance that can awaken their senses every morning must try Silver Mountain Water.
While it was released ages ago, the fresh and green cologne remains a masterpiece, its distinctive aroma ensuring it never gets dated. Moreover, it’s highly addictive, and you’ll never be short of compliments whenever you wear it.
Is this retro scent worth buying?
Like all Creed scents, Creed Silver Mountain is quite pricey. However, buying a Creed cologne entails purchasing a piece of history (250+ years of history is nothing to sniff at) and owning a high-quality formulation whose contents are hand-picked from nature.
While you may have no issues forking out a hefty amount to smell nice, you sure don’t want to buy a fake. Unfortunately, Creed fragrances are among the most copied, meaning there are numerous clones circulating in the market. Only purchase your Creed Silver Mountain Water from the Creed website or bonafide Creed resellers such as Nordstrom.
