Tommy Girl Perfume Review (EDT)

Tommy Girl comes in a minimalistic yet chic glass bottle with a silver cap embossed with the Tommy Hilfiger emblem. The bottle looks feminine and delicate, and its contents are visible. 

I love that the bottle is simple, with a clear design and the Tommy Girl logo in a matching red color. It’s neutral, straightforward, and would look great on any vanity.

It also gives off an All-American vibe, as the packaging features red, blue, and white vertical stripes and the iconic Hilfiger logo.

Tommy Girl is a floral-fruity fragrance. The fresh, alluringly feminine perfume contains traces of fruits and greens and is reminiscent of a sweet summer romance.

The top notes hit you with apple tree blossom, camellia, mandarin orange, and black currant. Instantly, I get that burst of citrus, especially mandarin orange, with a hint of floral freshness.

While Tommy Girl’s opening is bright and sparkly, some people find it a little heavy on the citrus. 

Following closely after the top notes is a heady mixture of honeysuckle, violet, rose, lily, lemon, grapefruit, and mint.

The fruity notes are hardly distinguishable from one another in this wildflower bouquet. Instead, they all mesh into an intoxicating blend, resulting in a delicious smell. 

In the base notes, we find magnolia, jasmine, cedar, sandalwood, and leather. While I don’t get a strong leather vibe, there’s a subtle masculine touch to it, making it borderline unisex.

Interestingly, Tommy Hilfiger’s Tommy Girl is what is referred to as a tea scent. The flower behind this is the Camellia japonica, a garden shrub closely related to, you guessed it, the tea plant. The fragrant tea aroma is evident at the opening, making the perfume even more refreshing. 

Perfume enthusiasts believe that perfumer Calice Becker also drew inspiration from the distinctive aroma in a Parisian tea store, The Mariage Frères.

Tommy Girl performs remarkably well for a fresh, floral, daytime fragrance, lasting 6-8 hours, depending on the user. 

The fragrance has a surprisingly strong start but tends to fade on my skin, prompting reapplication throughout the day.

Toward the end, it becomes more floral, and I appreciate that transition. It’s not the most long-lasting scent, but it’s great for a quick pick-me-up or casual occasions.

Buying Tip: If you are buying Tommy Girl for the first time, spray a little on your wrist, wait a few minutes, then sniff your hand. You can also wait up to 15 minutes for a final sniff. This will give you an idea of how the scent will smell on you later on based on your body chemistry.
