A soothing relaxant, lavender induces a feeling of comfort while its aroma rejuvenates the senses hence its use in aromatherapy. It is also believed to have aphrodisiac capabilities.

Vanilla is soothing, too, but more than that, it is playful and seductive. And like lavender, vanilla is widely used in aromatherapy, and this practice dates back centuries.

Vanilla’s application as a natural aphrodisiac is also an open secret, and so is its use in baking – thanks to vanillin, a tasty, nutty component in vanilla extract.

How I Tested and Selected My Top Picks

I have always loved the pairing of lavender and vanilla in a fragrance, where the calming floral essence of lavender harmoniously intertwines with the sweet warmth of vanilla.

I wore each perfume for an entire day, allowing the notes to unfold and reveal their full character. The goal was to assess not only the initial burst of lavender and vanilla but also how well the fragrances evolved—whether they maintained their allure or faded into the background.

The best lavender and vanilla perfumes, in my opinion, seamlessly integrate these two notes, without being too sweet, or too floral.

Additionally, I considered the versatility of each perfume—how well it adapted to different occasions and seasons. Some exuded a cozy warmth perfect for chilly evenings, while others had a fresh, uplifting quality suitable for daytime wear.

Ariana Grande Cloud Review

Cloud by Ariana Grande presents as a floral fruity, and gourmand composition whose keynotes include lavender, coconut, and vanilla.

The sweetness intensifies, revealing prominent coconut and cashmere wood notes. It’s like a blend of In the Stars and Ari by Ariana Grande but slightly more mature.

There’s often criticism of celebrity fragrances all smelling the same, but Ariana’s creations stand out to me. They’re simple yet not too plain, offering that extra something to make you smell fantastic. Her perfumes are some of my favorites, and Cloud is no exception.

You can expect impressive performance and a long-lasting impression from Cloud Perfume. It lasts most of the day and is really versatile for multiple occasions.

Quick Note: Vanilla Orchid is the plant that produces vanilla beans from which we get vanilla extract. The vanilla bean is responsible for vanilla’s distinctive flavor, making it an indispensable culinary ingredient.

Top Notes: Lavender, Pear, Bergamot

Middle Notes: Whipped cream, Coconut, Praline, Vanilla orchid

Base Notes: Musk, Woods

Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau de Parfum Review

Lavender, orange blossom, and a lovely musk accord characterize this perfume that smells like lavender and vanilla. This is not your typical floral fragrance though. Touted as a “celebration of freedom,” it favors fearless women who gravitate towards daring compositions.

Here, French lavender essence morphs with musk, Moroccan orange blossom’s blatant sensuality, and the robust, textured vanilla extract. The latter is sourced from Madagascar for its unique, fresh, vanilla bean-enriched-with-balsamic tones effect.

This women’s perfume is inspired by the bold and the free, who are ready to break boundaries and forge their own path.

YSL Libre EDP arrives in a stunning flacon bedecked with the YSL logo in gold and an asymmetric black lid. Sexy golden chains add to the overall gold aesthetic of the eye candy presentation.

Talking of presentation, if your perfumes are all over your dresser, and you are wondering how to organize them neatly, scent selective has an insightful post on the best perfume trays.

Top Notes: Lavender, Black currant, Petitgrain, Mandarin orange

Middle Notes: Lavender, Jasmine, Orange blossom

Base Notes: Musk, Madagascar vanilla, Ambergris, Cedar

Lavande by Molinard Review

Lavande Eau de Parfum has a crisp, green opening with notes of sage. Lavender quickly takes the center stage, offering a sweet and aromatic journey. This is a linear fragrance, meaning it maintains its character throughout the wearing experience. As it dries down, the sweetness becomes prominent.

However, the vanilla and herbal notes usher additional nuances, making it even more complex and attractive. As for labdanum, its leathery accents counter the powdery lavande.

Lavon is a versatile scent, suitable for various occasions, from casual to formal. However, I’d avoid it in scorching heat due to its sweetness.

Longevity here is above average, with a pronounced sillage. Moreover, this is a versatile scent you can wear on multiple occasions or whenever you want to wear something relaxing and refreshing.

Top Notes: Lavandin, Clary sage

Middle Notes: Lavender, Patchouli, Labdanum

Base Notes: Vanilla, Musk, Tonka, Benzoin

What we liked

  • Addictive and captivating aroma
  • Non-offensive fragrance
  • Chic, urbane with an undeniable sophistication

Lavanila Vanilla Lavender Review

Lavanila Laboratories introduced this fresh, light, and powdery vanilla lavender formulation for health-conscious fragrance enthusiasts.

The company prides itself on producing healthy, handcrafted perfumes infused with natural essences. This particular composition is marketed as clean and natural and even exudes an innocent aura.

Simple and uncomplicated, Vanilla Lavender brings to mind the fresh aroma of newly laundered sheets flapping in the wind. A whiff of the vanilla-inspired perfume reveals notes of Spanish lavender, Madagascan vanilla, rose absolute and violet leaf.

Regarding occasions, I’d pick a vacation—somewhere tropical, perhaps, as the floral notes evoke that getaway vibe. For the season, I’d say spring, aligning with the floral theme.

Top Notes: Spanish lavender

Middle Notes: Rose absolute, Green violet leaf

Base Notes: Madagascar vanilla

Guerlain Mon Guerlain Review

Guerlain Mon Guerlain EDP pulls together jasmine, lavender, and vanilla in this warm, sweet amber woody concoction introduced in 2017.

Mon Guerlain also sports incredible staying power and a touch of audacity.

When I wear Mongala, I can distinctly pick up the lavender, vanilla, and a hint of milkiness. There’s also a subtle fruity and citrusy undertone, making it a delightful and complex composition.

Longevity is impressive, lasting around seven to eight hours on my skin. However, it’s essential to be cautious with the projection, as even a small amount can be potent. I reserve this fragrance mainly for colder months due to its strength.

The price is reasonable, considering the quality and longevity. Mongala is a fragrance that leans towards a more mature and professional appeal, making it suitable for individuals aged 25 and above.

Top Notes: Lavender, Bergamot

Middle Notes: Iris, Rose, Jasmine sambac

Base Notes: Tahitian vanilla, Licorice, Coumarin, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Benzoin

D.S. & Durga Burning Barbershop Review

D.S. & Durga gives an exciting twist to familiar scents. In this case, the brand transforms a simple barbershop scent into a modern, sparkly cologne with an appealing aroma.

The fragrance is well-suited for fall and winter, with a potential for spring due to its bright opening. It’s ideal for formal occasions.

The mature, mysterious, and masculine nature of this scent makes it stand out, and it requires the right person to pull it off. While age is not a strict factor, it leans towards a more mature audience.

Designed by David S. Moltz as an aromatic male fragrance in 2010, Burning Barbershop hits you with sharp minty, and smoky accords, underscoring the burning sensation. The zesty, cooling aroma aptly captures the scent of barbershops from the 19th century and has a way of inducing a comforting feeling.

Unsurprisingly, Burning Barbershop has endeared itself to female audiences, too, thanks to its delicate and sensual delivery. It effortlessly marries the traditional fresh and spicy barbershop flavor with contemporary smoky tones.

Top Notes: Lime, Spearmint, Hemlock spruce

Middle Notes: Lavender absolute, Turkish rose, Tuberose

Base Notes: Vanilla, Hay , Burnt oil

What we liked

  • Refreshing aroma with a spicy appeal
  • A classic, retro vibe
  • Hard-hitting aroma with a stellar performance

Chanel Jersey Review

The roaring twenties and jersey, a soft knit that adorned women with a natural elegance, provide the inspiration for this vanilla and lavender perfume.

Channel’s in-house perfumer Jacques Polge combined delicate lavender, creamy bourbon vanilla, and a cloud of white musk.

Despite the vanilla hint, it’s not a gourmand scent, leaning more towards the sweet side of florals.

While not a potent fragrance, it’s a lasting skin scent, around 4-5 hours on me. The 200 ml bottle is recommended, as you can’t over-spray it. Not a monster scent, it’s office-safe and subtle enough for healthcare or kid-centric work environments with a cautious spritz.

Top Notes: Lavender, Jasmine

Middle Notes: Bourbon vanilla, Rose, Wildflowers

Base Notes: Tonka bean, White musk

What we liked

  • Embodies freedom
  • An elegant, refined, high-quality scent
  • An all-season fragrance that shines in summer

Final Thoughts

If you love vanilla in perfumes but are not a fan of lavender, we hope this post has convinced you to try out this exciting combo in your next cologne. The two notes complement each other amazingly well, bringing out the best in each.

Furthermore, as a universal ingredient, lavender blends wonderfully with scents such as florals, woods, and citruses. It adds a lighter feel to heavy notes and helps tone down intoxicating fragrances.
