Our Verdict of Marc Jacobs Decadence EDP
Fragrance meets fashion in Decadence EDP’s stunning perfume bottle reminiscent of a classic handbag. The gift-worthy emerald-green casing is a nod to the brand’s fashion aesthetic.
Undoubtedly, it is a real treasure, with its opulent detailing, rich colors, and luxurious look.
The bottle features a perfectly curved snakeskin cap. Moreover, you can use the golden chain to carry the package as a magnet securely holds down the lid.
Printed on the face of the bottle is the fragrance name, Decadence, in bold letters. And so is the brand name.
Marc Jacobs Perfume Decadence is dark, mysterious, classy, and sensual. At the same time, it has a sweet and fresh aroma that makes it endearing.
The fragrance sports a sultry opening. It unfurls with juicy Italian plum underlying a glamorous iris flower and a spicy, earthy, almost oriental saffron leading to a luxurious core featuring Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, and orris. The final stage unleashes liquid amber, papyrus woods, and vetiver in a sumptuous trail dripping with sensuality.
Many users describe the opening as striking since it is powdery and robust yet sweet and earthy. A prominent iris accord is a reason for the perfume’s powdery quality. On the other hand, the dry down is smoky, woodsy, and super soft.
The base is tinged with traces of sweet, resinous amber, fused with an unusual warm papyrus accord and green vetiver facets. The latter provides a bitter/smoky, woodsy element to the now complex formulation. To separate the two layers, a floral heart comes in with a trace of earthy accents.
How Does Decadence Smell?
Decadence is inoffensive and clean smelling. In simple words, it smells utterly fantastic!
One thing to note is that this is not a generic fragrance. The blend of notes is exotic, unexpected, and pretty exciting, lending the perfume a mysterious yet elegant quality. This is one of the most enticing and distinctive perfumes you’ll ever come across. It can also be dramatic, with some users reporting it smells like pickles.
Still, you either love it or hate it. Be warned, though. You might dislike Decadence perfume at first but end up liking it – it has a way of growing on you.
Most people like perfumes with long-staying power because they pique their olfactory interest from dawn to dusk. Furthermore, you remain smelling fresh and well put together all day long.
Marc Jacobs scents are not remarkable in terms of staying power, but Decadence is a different case altogether. While it’s an Eau de Parfum, longevity is outstanding. You can expect between 7-8 hours of solid wear without needing to reapply.
This is an intriguing perfume. While it’s quite powerful, its performance largely depends on the user. For some people, Decadence delivers long-lasting performance, but for others, it’s not as impressive.
Top Tip: We all have a particular scent print that impacts how the perfume we apply develops on our skin. This entails a combination of factors such as our diet, genes, skin chemistry, mood, skin temperature, and even whether we are on medication. So, next time you notice a perfume smells lovely on a friend but not on you (or endures much longer), their odor print presents a plausible explanation.
Marc Jacobs Decadence perfume is a cold weather scent. This means it shines best in cooler climates, such as autumn and winter. It can also work for a less hot summer.
The fragrance is excellent for nightwear, like when going on a date or for a cool evening walk. It’s not exactly a party fragrance, though, so it might not strike the right chord for a night out dancing with the girls.
Wearing Marc Jacob’s Decadence is an unforgettable experience. The designer fragrance’s sexy, deep richness invites you to indulge your senses. Yet, the scent is so distinctive it’s no wonder it smells different on everybody who wears it.
This scent is aptly named. It’s sweet, deep, unbelievably sexy, and glamorous all rolled into one. As if that’s not enough, it is also classy and highly sophisticated and lingers long without being overbearing.
As noted, Decadence can be tricky to wear. If you are a first-time user, we recommend trying it out first. Spritz a little on your hand, and wait a few minutes for it to settle before smelling it.
However, don’t let this faze you. Decadence is a unique, bold, and sensual perfume with an interesting character. Without a doubt, it will add an alluring twist to your vanity or fragrance collection.
