Paco Rabanne’s Invictus EDT came as a part of the iconic fashion designer’s line of scents in 2013. Invictus is a fresh and aquatic scent that gets fairly mixed reviews online because it’s seen as a generic fragrance.

After going on the scent journey with Invictus and using it regularly, I can safely say it is an excellent refreshing cologne choice for men, and one of my personal favorites from within my collection, particularly for summer wear.

In the rest of this Paco Rabanne Invictus review, I will assign the Invictus cologne for men a score based on various categories of performance. Then, we will explore some pros and cons of the scent, highlighting its biggest selling points and weaknesses.

Our Verdict of Paco Rabanne Invictus Eau de Toilette

Quality

4.3

Paco Rabanne’s Invictus EDT is a quality fragrance. It’s not groundbreaking, but not every fragrance needs to be. It’s super airy, fresh, refined, and enjoyable to wear.

The quality of the scent is fantastic; it’s very uplifting and fresh. I’ve found it to be rather addictive daily wear!

There’s no real surprise it’s one of the most popular male colognes on the market at the moment and one that has tried to be imitated hundreds of times. It’s very well-blended, and the balance of scents and accords is great.

Originality

3.2

Although Invictus is a generic aquatic fragrance, the scent pairings are fairly original.

You do get the orange and patchouli pairing that so many others are doing, but Rabanne goes a step further. The patchouli is emphasized by hints of the bay leaf and the uber-luxurious ambergris. You also are getting hints of other fresh scents, like grapefruit and jasmine.

But overall, it does score low on originality. There are many other similar fragrances, such as Hugo Boss Iced EDT and Versace Eros EDT if you are looking for an energetic, youthful, male scent. Invictus doesn’t push boundaries, unfortunately.

Radiance

3.5

Radiance can also be an arbitrary scale rating because everyone likes their cologne to feel slightly different. Some like to radiate their scent as soon as they enter the room and like for the scent to be more powerful so that others are inclined to ask.

I’ve rated the radiance of Invictus a 3.5 in radiance. This can be a pro or a con for you, depending. The scent is powerful and commanding, and depending on how much you put on, you’ll gain the attention of others in the room.

Invictus has good performance in terms of projection and sillage. It has just the right amount of projection to be noticed without being too overbearing.

Versatility

3.7

I’ve found Invictus by Paco Rabanne to be a rather versatile masculine scent. I have worn it to the office, out for dinner, and even weddings. It matches my body chemistry well, and I find it to be a smooth, refined scent.

It’s perfect for summer and a night out. Admittedly, it’s not the most mature scent, but it’s a very seductive and attractive mainstream fragrance.

Although versatile, I would still say it’s more suitable for the spring or summer months and for the younger male demographic.

Longevity

3.2

Invictus Paco Rabanne cologne is an Eau de Toilette. For an EDT, you can expect around 10% oil. That being said, you can also expect Invictus to last around three to five hours.

Depending on your preference for cologne longevity, you might be okay with a few hours before reapplication. This scores a little lower on our rating scale because reapplication can be inconvenient, and depending on your commute, the EDT might not even last a quarter of your day.

I’ve personally found the scent of Invictus by Paco Rabanne does wear off after around three or four hours after applying four sprays in the morning. The performance is average, but this is somewhat expected as an Eau de Toilette.

Remember, though, longevity also depends on body chemistry and the placement of your cologne. You want to follow best practices for your cologne to last longer.

Overall

3.9

Overall, I give the Invictus cologne for men a total average rating of 3.9/5 for its quality, originality, radiance, versatility, and longevity.

Bear in mind that everyone prefers a different scent profile. Some people prefer something fresh and sporty, while others want something complex and compelling.

I personally very much enjoy this scent; it’s somewhat of a guilty pleasure, considering its widespread popularity.

Admittedly, it’s not the most mature scent, but it’s a very seductive and addictive mainstream fragrance. For men aged between 20 and 40, it’s a fantastic complement-getter and a cologne that should be added to your collection!
